The Classic Paintings category sports a painting by one of the last representatives of the “Munich School” in Academic art of the era of the first years of the 20th century Spyridon Vikatos we find in Lot 047, while a religious themed painting is signed "D.A. Biskinis", refferring to another collectible asset in Classic Greek painters, as Dimitrios A. Biskinis was a renowned Greek academic painter (1891 – 1947) found in Lot 092. The two artworks are indisputably leading the section of Classic Paintings along with a framed painting of the renowned Apostolos Geralis we find in Lot 130

Socratis Giosmas, oil on canvas, the "Blue series"

In the Contemporary Painitngs section the dominant figure is Socratis Giosmas, in high esteem about his young people portraits series, along with a strong earlier work of its blue series depicting an old man (go for Lots 166, 200222, 232). A younger artist in the strong potential row, is Michail Tsakountis; he is a famous younger generation portraitist with more than 20 solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His artworks belong in private collections all over the world. Michail Tsakoundis born and grew in Crete, Greece, studied art in the Athens School of Fine Arts and painting in St. Martins, London, UK. He was instantly recognized for his vivid depiction of emotions present in all of his works as well as the passion his faces sublimely indicate. He has resided for some years in New York, USA, where he frequently exhibits under the auspices of Leslie-Lohman Gay Arts Foundation. Note the Lots 067, 220, as characteristic of his style. Distinguished in this category are also the paintings of Haris Mitroussis an experienced neo-romantic renowned in Greece artist, and among them you can spot his own self-portrait, as he is a significant figure himself; you can see all of the Lots gathered HERE.

Trombloni (or Troumblons), used by sailors
loaded usually with nails and other projectiles
instead of bullets to tear the sails of opponent ships. 1780 - 1810 period.
The Guns & Armour section has a strong footprint in this auction with museum quality antique guns and knives, ornated with rare metalworks coming from the Balkans and former Ottoman Empire area and from 1780 till 1810. The highly collectible items can be reviewed HERE.

The category of Furniture is interesting, especially for the antiques it includes and the starting prices scheme it utilizes. I am explaining: Myro Antiques House has a special policy attributing 10 euros no-reserve starting prices in almost the 1/3 of the auction lots. This time most of the "10-euros-starting-prices" fall into the Furniture section, leaving the room to decide the appropriate price. About this policy and the way it functions, please read the paragraph subtitled "10 euros policy" below. The section sports some valuable antiques, like a 19th century buffet, solid oak, in perfect condition, antique mirrors, a wedding chest, art deco style & Era pieces, and non-antiques yet stylish and well preserved dozens of other furniture. See them all HERE.

No reserve low starting prices: The 10 euros policy
A notable practice which benefits the auction's attendance is the no-reserve starting prices at €10, which this time covers almost the 1/3 of its Lots. The somewhat obscure to some so low starting prices, is rather easily explained by the fact that the auction is an established one for several years (this is the 47th event)  and has a huge pool of attendants who come in its auctions frequently. Among them there are Greek and foreign collectors flying to Greece once every two months to bid, since the auction remains utterly public not allowing remote or telephone bids, along with antiquarians, art curators of Museums and organizations, and general public. The room gathers more than 250 people in each auction -half of them a very well educated and experienced crowd, who can evaluate what they see at first sight. Thus the auctioneer trusts that the audience can appreciate an bid from almost zero price to the value they will pay for each object, actually leaving them to decide the current acceptable price. If an "accident" of an extreme low price for something extremely valuable occurs, the auction house will make the day the marketing way: It will make someone really happy for obtaining a high value Lot at a memorable low price, making him and others a true believer. So, its a win win situation in any case, no remorse there, whatever happens.

This is the 47th Inhouse auction of Antiques, Arts and Objects, and it is taking place on Sunday the 13th of Devember 2015 at 12.00 in Myro Antiques House premises, in the 2nd kilometer of the road Sourotis – Agiou Antoniou, Souroti Area of Thessaloniki.

A cocktail party will be held by the end of the Auction, sporting traditional pies, wines and refreshments for all the attendants.

Registration Time: 12.00
Auction Starts: 12.30

Myrό Antique’s House attempts through auctions and events organized to consolidate the auction institution in Northern Greece, as it is understood and carried out abroad and by international standards. For this reason, in our auctions it is possible for any participant to bid at incredibly low prices (actual value may be up to 10 times more), in order for the procedure to be accessible to everyone. We hope in this way to build a fan base of the practice and everyone will be able to live in this unique and fun experience.

Free Transport from two spots
If you find yourselves in the center of Thessaloniki, its even easier to reach the auction, since you can depart with the auction house's coach bus, leaving Lefkos Pyrgos monument(traffic issues can oblige the driver to move to the front of the nearby Royal Theatre), leaving on 11.30 a.m. At the smae time another bus will be leaving for the auction from Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki -the prefferred hotel of most  visitors of the auction not residing in the area- at the central entrance of the Hotel.
